Indigenous (First Nation, Inuit, Métis) job seekers

As an organization, we recognize the profound importance of attracting Indigenous professionals who seek more than just professional and personal support. We aim to be a workplace that extends beyond fostering inclusivity within our structure, actively engaging in meaningful contributions that positively impact Indigenous communities externally. We believe that our commitment to both internal and external support reflects our dedication to driving positive change, creating a workplace culture that honors and respects the diversity and richness of Indigenous cultures, perspectives, and voices.

Guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan, we center our efforts around four key pillars: Inclusion, Education, Employment, and Empowerment. Here's a glimpse of a few impactful initiatives that we are proud of:

Inclusion

Deloitte offers two paid and three unpaid Indigenous Cultural Days for our Indigenous (First Nation, Inuit, Métis) team members.

Our Personal Spending Account (PSA) program includes additional options for Indigenous health expenses, reimbursing traditional medicines, and mental health supports such as traditional healers.

Employee Resource Groups such as the Indigenous and Allies Community, Indigenous Community, and the Indigenous Professional Circle create inclusive spaces for Indigenous team members to regularly connect, attend events, and share experiences.

In partnership with Indigenous Youth Roots, the Future of Canada Center at Deloitte amplifies young Indigenous voices who are largely absent at decision-making tables through subsequent report series. Most recent series here.

Education

Deloitte has committed $175,000 annually for three years to invest in Indigenous education for post-secondary students. We have supported over 130 students pursuing certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and professional designations.

In 2023, Deloitte was the Platinum Sponsor for the North American Indigenous Games helping to bring together over 5000 Indigenous Youth from 756 Indigenous Nations to celebrate, share, and reconnect through sport and culture.

Employment

Our dedicated Indigenous Recruitment Team, consisting of three passionate members, aim to champion and empower Indigenous applicants throughout the recruitment journey to ensure a supportive and inclusive experience as you navigate the hiring process with us.

In 2023, Deloitte saw a 38% increase in Indigenous employees at the firm attributed to the growing number of Indigenous-specific hiring initiatives and programs, including our Indigenous Bloom Internship Program.

In 2023, Deloitte invested over $120,000 in Indigenous employment conferences.

In partnership with Indigenous Corporate Training Inc., our talent team's complete mandatory Indigenous recruitment certified training, as well as have access to an in-house developed Indigenous recruitment guide to ensure best practices and cultural inclusivity through each stage of the hiring process.

Economic empowerment

Deloitte is silver level certified in the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAIR) program from the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCIB) - a testament to our pioneering role as the first professional services firm to receive this prestigious recognition.

In early 2024, Deloitte announced its Nation Building practice, a new capability to create an equitable, prosperous, and thriving economy nationwide. The Nation Building group at Deloitte will serve Indigenous Peoples and Nations on their journey to economic empowerment and self-governance, and act as integrators, facilitators, and advisors to governments and corporations, which play a critical role in advancing nation-building. Nation Building | Deloitte Canada

We currently have 60 Indigenous-owned businesses through our Indigenous Supplier Portal that actively support our firm's client engagements and internal activities – accounting for 5% of Deloitte’s supplier spend in 2023.

Acknowledgment of Traditional Territories

We humbly acknowledge that Deloitte offices reside on traditional, treaty, and unceded territories of what is now known as Canada. This land remains the home of many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. As we continue our journey, we embrace the understanding that we are all Treaty people.
