What will your typical day look like?

 

The Fraud Analytics Project Associate will support one of Deloitte’s major clients in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating fraudulent activities across various banking products. This position leverages data analytics and investigative techniques to protect customers and the bank from financial loss. As a contractor on this team, project work will vary but responsibilities will include:

  •  Fraud data analytics; proactively develop, implement, and maintain effective fraud detection rules and models to mitigate a variety of fraud risks.
  • Providing effective analysis to enhance fraud prevention strategies.
  • Providing effective support in delivering fraud-related services to clients.  

What you will be doing

  • Fraud data analytics that proactively identifies fraud risk exposures and vulnerabilities based on industry trends and data analysis; drive work to establish fraud mitigation priorities to minimize risk through the delivery of effective strategies (e.g., rules and models) to detect and prevent fraud with the clients technology-based solution(s).
  • Identify fraud trends, and proactively initiate action to improve efficiency and reduce time to identify fraud risks.
  • Deepen the use of analytics to detect fraud and risk, and associated operational process changes to ultimately prevent losses
  • Build and maintain fraud detection rules/models of different lengths and complexities to detect fraudulent transactions/activities and then collaboratively implement strategies to mitigate fraud risks.
  • Analyze large data sets and perform ad-hoc analysis to identify fraud trends, hidden causation, and correlation relationships and leverage these insights to enhance fraud rules and models.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyze fraud risks, patterns, and product vulnerabilities.
  • Work with various data owners to discover and select available data sources from internal sources and external vendors for fraud detection rules and model optimization.
  • Leverage data visualization techniques for fraud rules and model performance review to share with internal and external clients.
  • Perform analysis and write summaries to address complex/sensitive escalations to management.
  • Work with cross-functional teams 1 to collaborate on fraud risks and investigations.

 

Compensation is on an hourly basis, at $30-$60/hour, depending on experience.

 

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

 

You are someone with:

  • Prior experience working within a fraud analytics role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  •  Proven knowledge of fraud risk management principles and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Prior experience in banking or financial services
  • Experience with machine learning or advanced analytics.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to fraud (e.g., AML, KYC).

  1. As part of the Procom onboarding process, you will be required to pass a background check, which includes a criminal record check. In addition, a background check will be required annually if your contract is renewed.
  2. As part of the interview and onboarding process, and to ensure ongoing identity verification, you will be required to:
    o    show a piece of government issued ID during the interview so we can verify your identity; 
    o    send Procom two pieces of ID; and
    o    send Deloitte a current photo of yourself which will be used as your profile picture.
  3.   For scheduled meetings, you may be required to be on video.
  4.  You must work in Canada at all times. Deloitte will monitor the location from which you connect to our systems.
