Reporting to the Head of Finance for Canada, this position is responsible for leading a team of finance professionals that proactively supports and advises on the business planning and performance within the practice. This role works directly with the CEO / Managing Partner, COO and leadership team of the National practice to drive the performance of the practice through business insights and in-depth, forward thinking analysis. This role provides critical support to the practices team vision - to be recognized as the market-leading Artificial Intelligence practice in Canada, delivering consistent superior quality, growth and profitability, with a nimble, high-performing team that develops and leverages strategic relationships and innovative delivery models within Canada and globally.

The role is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining effective and forward-looking planning/forecasting and business analysis capabilities that will drive the performance of the practice’s portfolio of businesses. This includes providing oversight on key aspects of the day to day operations of the practice, as well as working with the leadership team to develop strategy and assess new business development opportunities (organic and inorganic), aligning with our continuous improvement platform for profitable growth.

Using appropriate analytical tools and through the development of the annual business plan and performance metrics, you and your team will track, analyze and drive achievement of business drivers and financial goals.




Strategy, Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis:

  • Play a leadership role in strategic planning, financial forecasting and analytical activities for the practice. A key aspect of the position is to partner closely with the firm executive and senior management to drive business insight and to provide fact-based thought leadership on key strategic and financial decisions.
  • Develop and lead plans to implement recommendations based on analysis and deep knowledge of the business
  • Assess high risk/complex project progress to understand impact on financial results
  • Develop and lead impact assessment of workforce planning - recruiting and promotions on future financials and leverage model
  • Work with leadership team and others to develop proactive recommendations to support robust financial performance
  • Work proactively to improve operations, processes and policies to improve alignment with the practices business plan and the Canadian firm and global practice strategies as a whole
  • Build on client life cycle processes for opportunity pipeline, pricing approvals, alternative delivery options and engagement profitability reporting
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Development office in the financial modeling, valuation and due diligence efforts related to potential acquisitions
  • Oversee the development and delivery of management reporting and monitor key performance indicators
  • Synthesize, communicate and improve the flow of financial information, including internal global and external benchmarks
  • Flexible, ability to organize and synthesize the abstract, modeling/scenario analysis, etc.
  • Period, Quarterly and Year End Close Activities:
  • Perform period-end reviews to support management reporting
  • Facilitate leadership’s understanding of the practices financial position
  • Accountable for the development of periodic, quarterly or annual accruals to ensure a clear view of the practice financial picture
  • Thoroughly understand engagement/project economics in order to identify potential issues, provide recommendations and drive change, i.e. billing rates, recovery and cost rates
  • Drive WIP management and collections across the practice. Accountable for impact analysis of investment on practice performance
  • Drive all period-end reporting activities and KPI analysis
  • Bring a balanced focus on forward-looking indicators and alignment of business plan with review of historical trends and metrics.

External Posting Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance with a finance designation (CPA) and/or MBA
  • 10 to 15 + years’ experience in developing, implementing and maintaining effective and forward-looking planning/ forecasting and business analysis capability that will drive the performance of the portfolio of businesses
  • Strong Systems - comfort with deep, data environments and experience with SAP and Cognos (or Hyperion); ability to interpret and summarize data to aid management in achieving strategic and operational goals
  • Proven experience as a client focused business advisor with deep analytical and problem solving skills and an ability to build influential relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Demonstrated experience in executing a business planning and forecasting process across a national business.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships and lead others through change.
