Deloitte’s M&A Consulting practice delivers comprehensive consulting services and comprises Strategy & Operations (S&O), Technology, and Human Capital experts. Working collaboratively within integrated, cross-functional teams, our practitioners are involved through all phases of the M&A lifecycle, including: strategy, operational readiness, due diligence, pre- and post-close integration/separation planning and execution, and follow-on transformation.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will help lead and grow the M&A Technology capability. The incumbent will work alongside practitioners from all areas of Deloitte (i.e., Consulting, Financial Advisory, Risk Advisory, Tax, and Audit) to build tailored solutions for clients that span our firm’s capabilities and experience. As a Senior Manager, you will have multiple responsibilities, and are expected to contribute to the firm's growth and development in a variety of ways:

  • Engagement management: Lead engagement planning and budgeting, manage economics and risks; mobilize and manage engagement teams; define deliverable structure and content; facilitate buy-in of proposed solutions; direct on-time, high-quality delivery of work products.
  • Manage day-to-day interactions with stakeholders: Develop and maintain contact with top decision makers at key clients.
  • Contribute to practice development and eminence: Develop deep expertise in select industry sectors and topics to provide practical solutions and methodologies; develop and publish "thoughtware" and "point-of-view" documents; participate in public speaking events.
  • Talent development: Actively contribute to building the talent pipeline by being a counselor and coach for team members; provide input and guidance into the staffing process; participate in staff recruitment and retention activities; provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff.
  • Develop core offering expertise: Leverage deep personal expertise in M&A and Technology service offerings to continuously develop our services, drive sales pursuits, and develop marketplace eminence.
  • Sales and business development: Grow the business by actively identifying opportunities, and negotiating profitable transactions for the firm; continually adapt to disruptive trends and competition to realize opportunities to improve Deloitte’s market position; participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process and pricing strategy.


  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience including:
    •  M&A advisory
    •   IT due diligence
    •  Large-scale systems design, implementation, and integration
    •  Enterprise architecture
    •  IT business transformation
    •  IT portfolio management
  • Extensive experience in M&A projects with a focus on technology integration and separation, including the development and roll-out of IT governance policies and structures, formalization of the operating model and business-IT relationship, developing and executing on communications and change management strategies, and reviewing and converting IT processes to realize synergies
  • Highly proficient in supporting cross-functional project management, contingency planning, and Day 1 cutover planning and execution for technology deployment, integrations, and divestitures
  • Experienced in guiding clients on key concepts and strategies for M&A engagements including, but not limited to, stranded cost analyses, business continuity during transformation, synergy identification and capture, and system cutovers
  • Ability to develop materials for, and facilitate, large cross-functional workshops regarding the planning and implementation of IT integration and separation projects, attended by senior stakeholder
  • Proven ability in overseeing engagement teams in the development of high-quality deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse team of talented technology, functional, and business advisors
  • Be a proponent of an open and inclusive workplace that values contribution to practice growth and development from employees of all experience level
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working in the Financial Services Industry or Energy and Resources sectors
  • A willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time (Monday–Thursday)

Additional preferred qualifications, capabilities, and experience:

  •  Relevant professional designation is an asset
  •  Previous work experience at a large consulting firm
  •  Ability to articulate leading business issues and trends, including the associated technology implications within one or more industries
  •  Demonstrated ability to build and grow a practice with an exceptional culture
