Our national Finance and Controllership Practice (Banking and Capital Markets “BCM” and Wealth Management “WM” sectors) is rapidly expanding. Joining our team will provide you with opportunities to develop and hone skills, expand your internal and external networks and be a key member in the growth of our practice.

What will your typical day look like?

 

As a Senior Manager in the Finance and Controllership Practice, you will:

  • Work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment to drive value for finance functions of BCM/WM sector organizations.
  • Review, contribute and lead planning and execution of BCM/WM and broader financial services client projects, including management of engagement economics.
  • Develop and lead internal and external timely communications relevant to our professionals and clients.
  • Develop materials for and participate in the delivery of presentations to clients and firm personnel.
  • Review client deliverables prepared by junior staff and assist staff in developing their technical, communication and project management skills. Mentor and develop teams of advisory resources.
  • Lead business development activities specific to the BCM/WM sectors. Contribute to market and eminence initiatives, including development of new service offerings and marketing campaigns within the practice.
  • Build relationships with clients at multiple levels and work collaboratively with client personnel, leveraging their resources and knowledge to achieve project goals

About the team

 

Our Financial Services Finance & Controllership team is a collaborative group that creates value for clients in Capital Markets and Banking, Wealth Management, Insurance and Real Estate sectors. Our team supports top financial institution CFOs and their Finance teams to achieve successful outcomes.We focus on providing our clients with pragmatic and holistic solutions; applying our deep knowledge of financial reporting requirements, key operational and risk considerations, technical accounting and industry expertise to help organizations drive forward.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

 

You are someone with:

•    Must have a CPA CFA, CISA, CIA designation or equivalent, and possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in the BCM/WM financial services sector supporting the finance function or providing consulting/advisory or audit services
•    Strong leadership characteristics, able to independently operate projects and interact with management personnel and executives
•    Demonstrated experience with broad advisory skillsets, including project problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, facilitation of decision making, documentation, managing client expectations and team leadership – to demonstrate the following:
      o    Problem solving skills (ability to “find it” and “fix it”)
      o    Operational mindset (ability to translate the “what is required” into the “how it’s done”)
      o    Strong facilitation and presentation skills,
•    Capacity to think critically about issues from a strategic perspective (options available, pros / cons of different options, proposed solution) and aptitude in researching better practices and interpretive guidance
•    Expertise in financial reporting cycle elements such as financial process design, budgeting and planning, financial reporting, accounting close/consolidation, business case development and internal controls over financial reporting (in particular within a SOX environment)
•    Technical accounting skills and experience in and knowledge of IFRS, internal controls or risk (experience in SOX compliance, IFRS 9, back office operations, treasury management and regulatory filing requirements an asset)
•    Effective consensus building, conflict resolution, and team-building skills, including being a role model for others and imparting knowledge and experience to staff members
•    Strong communication skills (both written and verbal). Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
•    Ability to work both independently and be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and to deliver projects with teams
•    Exceptional intellectual horsepower, including strong critical thinking skills, complex problem solving, analytical abilities, and the capacity for lateral/creative thinking
•    Superior verbal and written communication skills, both at the technical and executive levels
