Deloitte’s M&A Consulting practice delivers comprehensive consulting services and comprises S&O (Strategy & Operations), Technology, and Human Capital experts. Working collaboratively within integrated, cross-functional teams, our practitioners are involved through all phases of the M&A lifecycle, including: strategy, operational readiness, due-diligence, pre- and post-close planning and execution, and follow-on transformation.

Our M&A Strategy practitioners support our clients in a number of ways throughout the deal lifecycle. This range of services include: developing M&A driven corporate strategies, including inorganic growth and separation plans through evaluation of core competencies and industry analyses; assessment of potential value creation and deal structure, with an understanding of the supporting economics and operational considerations; operational/commercial due diligence; strategy formulation for integration/separation projects, including Day 1 readiness and execution; product development; broader corporate transformation.



The Strategy Senior Consultant will primarily focus on supporting the execution of Strategy initiatives throughout the M&A lifecycle. In addition, as a Senior Consultant within the M&A Consulting team, you will have multiple other responsibilities, and are expected to contribute to the firm's growth and development in a variety of ways:

·        Engagement management: Support pursuit team leaders with engagement planning and scoping; facilitate buy-in of proposed solutions and opportunities from top management levels at the client; deliver on-time, high-quality engagement work products; demonstrate behaviours synonymous with our brand promise, while focusing on exceptional quality of service and delivery timelines.

·        Engage in day-to-day interactions with stakeholders: Participate in business development activities, be an active member of pursuit teams while supporting proposal content development.

·        Contribute to practice development and eminence: Participate in the creation of practical solutions and methodologies; support and contribute to the development of "thoughtware" and "point-of-view" documents; and participate and support industry and eminence events sponsored by the firm.

·        Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience leading up to a similar role in consulting or industry, or

·        Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience leading up to a similar role in consulting or industry.

·        Pragmatic commercial acumen – able to identify key client business issues and risks, determine client needs, evaluate and validate analyses, and develop recommendations for the client in the context of the engagement, with the ability and willingness to deal with ambiguity and change.

·        Program management skills, specifically, proven experience in managing workstreams / projects, prioritizing strategic objectives, managing risks and issues, and ultimately driving project success.

·        Ability to interpret and analyze information memoranda, business plans, and publicly available information on the target business.

·        Contribute to the development of high quality deliverables and development of proposal content for business development activities.

·        Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills, and the use of tools such as MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Visio.

·        Experience with budget and resource management utilizing tools such as MS Project, MS Excel, and MS SharePoint.

Additional preferred qualifications, capabilities, and experience:

·        Experience working in the Financial Services Industry or Energy and Resources sectors.

·        Experience developing material for, and supporting, large cross-functional workshops regarding the planning and implementation of the strategy-focused activities of integration and separation projects as the result of M&A activity.

·        Experience supporting cross-functional project management, contingency planning, and Day 1 planning to help execute large strategy projects for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.

·        Experience supporting corporate and private equity clients in the development and assessment of M&A strategies, potential merger synergies and carve-outs, and stand-alone performance improvements.

·        Experience performing operational and commercial due diligence.

·        Demonstrated ability to quickly develop an understanding of the target business and its drivers.

·        Experience guiding clients on key concepts of M&A focused corporate development, including but not limited to divestitures, acquisitions, JVs, partnerships, and synergy identification and capture.

·        Ability to articulate leading business issues and trends, including the associated implications within one or more industries.

·        Experience participating in the development and presentation of proposals for business development activities.Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and assignments while demonstrating strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the capacity to exercise mature judgment.

·        Assisting clients in understanding the true strategic and operational capability of acquisitions and investment companies.

·        A willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time (Monday-Thursday).
