 Deloitte’s Forensic group is actively seeking new team members for project-based work as Workplace Misconduct investigators. 

What will your typical day look like?


In this role, you will be responsible for conducting impartial investigations of complaints of employee misconduct, including for example, allegations of discrimination and harassment. 

Project work will vary but tasks will include: 


•    Analyzing the allegations of the complaint and researching applicable laws, regulations and policies associated with those complaints to identify the appropriate violation(s) to investigate
•    Understanding and interpreting governance, collective agreements, legislation (i.e. Ontario Human Rights Code, Canadian Human Rights Act, Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, etc.), and labour and employment law 
•    Developing an investigation plan and researching background information related to the complainant, respondent, witnesses, and other related parties
•    Scheduling appointments and interviewing witnesses while protecting the integrity and privacy of the investigation
•    Evaluating information to determine findings of factual information and credibility of the participants
•    Conducting a thorough analysis of the information to determine whether the complaint is substantiated
•    Documenting the findings of the investigation process by maintaining detailed accurate records and notes and preparing an investigation report 
•    Other administrative tasks as required, to support the growth and development of the practice.

About the team



Deloitte’s team of Forensic professionals helps clients act quickly and confidently with regulatory concerns and actions, or sensitive internal investigations into fraud, corruption, and misconduct. The Forensic team also works with clients and their internal and external counsel to address complex and unexpected business disputes, insurance claims, class actions and associated litigation as well as computer forensic and e-discovery matters. 
More specifically, our Workplace Misconduct Investigations team supports our clients with solutions and recommendations, from crisis onset through investigation, data gathering and analysis, loss quantification, and long-term improvement. We help organizations better understand and address workplace culture and conduct issues, navigate changing expectations in broader society—such as values of inclusion and diversity—toward workplace and social behaviour, and help them tie business strategy to social capital.

You are someone with:


•    Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Human Resources, Industrial Relations), or law degree with experience in employment and labour law, or an equivalent combination of training 
•    Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem-solving, and interviewing
•    Demonstrated experience in planning and executing investigations, with the ability to remain impartial and neutral throughout the investigative process and in highly emotional situations
•    Excellent critical thinking skills and judgment with demonstrated ability to analyze and apply legal and policy standards to fact patterns
•    Highly effective communication skills, including verbal and written communication skills 
•    Self-driven, resourceful and able to work well independently and as part of a team
•    Strong interpersonal skills 
•    Ability and willingness to periodically travel and work evenings and weekends as duties require
