What will your typical day look like?


As a Resource Manager your primary responsibilities are as follows:

• Understand Audit services by building relationships with all levels of the firm and maintaining a working knowledge of all Audit Service Area offerings;
• Gain deep knowledge of the practitioner’s areas of expertise, prior project experience, skill-sets and work preferences;
• Accountable for the maintenance of a current and accurate staff schedule;
• Accountable for the timely completion of staffing requests from Partners, Engagement Managers, Managers, staff and/or other Resource Managers for recurring, special, or any related client assignment;
• Proactive management of staff availability, including communication to all relevant stakeholders; Follow up on proposed engagement opportunities; make staffing recommendations based on skill-set and availability; recommend alternative staffing to ensure optimal utilization;
• Lead negotiations with Managers & Partners to achieve the timely resolution of staffing conflicts;
• Work with Canadian Resource Management team and Regional Management Team to maximize utilization and activity levels by monitoring current and forecasted utilization and variances;
• Establish relationships with each practitioner assigned to your region, ensuring their availability is updated in the scheduling system;  address any variance concerns;
• Assist in the on-boarding of new hires, including:  training on the various resource management processes, databases and tools.  Ensure integration into the group and that they are placed on suitable projects in a timely manner;
• Work with US Resource Managers to stay on top of open needs and propose Canadian practitioners accordingly;
• Partners with Deloitte’s Talent, International Mobility, Finance and Learning Team(s).  Build relationships to resolve problems, improve process and achieve goals;
• Provide business insights to practice leaders through the analysis of various statistical information and reporting;
• Facilitate and/or participate in Regional and National staffing calls;
• Contribute to the annual staff planning process where applicable;
• Involvement in ad-hoc projects, as required

About the team


As a member of the National Resource Management team supporting Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance practice, you will be responsible for executing the Resource Management strategy both regionally and nationally. The Resource Management team acts as a trusted advisor and staffing partner to our business leaders, responsible for executing on all staffing processes, liaising and providing advisory support on client requests and inquiries. This requires critical thinking and creative solutions, as each staffing decision is made in consideration of the business needs, project requirements and the development of our practitioners.

You are someone who has:

  • 5 or more years of experience in a professional services environment either in a management, operations or resource management role;
  • Excellent attention to detail and high data accuracy;
  • Strategic problem-solving, analytical and strong project management skills, including the ability to understand the financial impact of relevant decisions;
  • Ability to translate business requirements/needs into suggested programs and actions;
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and volume of requests
