Deloitte is looking for economic researchers to join the Future of Canada Centre (FCC) and our Economic Advisory group to develop high impact thought leadership on economic issues.

The FCC is Deloitte’s thought leadership and public policy hub. The Centre conduct original research and publish reports, articles, and papers under the firm’s flagship initiative, Canada at 175, on a broad spectrum of topics of interest to our firm, our clients, and our country. Deloitte Economic Advisory works closely with our industry leaders across Canada and the globe in order to apply economic thinking and commercial acumen to everyday business problems. They dissect complex policy and business challenges to provide insightful analysis and offer pointed recommendations, based on a foundation of economic forecasting. More details here:

As an Economic Research Senior Associate, you will work closely with the FCC and Deloitte Economic Advisory to help develop and deliver large-scale, cross-sectoral thought leadership for the firm, including research focused on the growth and competitiveness of our nation. This could include:

  • Monitor issues relevant to growth and competitiveness on an ongoing basis, including industry developments both in Canada and globally.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research, using a variety of methodologies and data sources, to support the development of high profile thought leadership pieces.
  • Contribute to the development of outlines and drafts of research reports.
  • Support the development of internal and external materials related to research insights, including presentations, articles, and speeches.
  • Support and deliver on ad-hoc research and analysis requests as required.
  • Advise junior researchers on research approaches and data sources; mentor junior researchers and secondees on the team in developing their research skills.


  • A Master’s degree, preferably in economics or another relevant field, as well as 3-5 years of work experience in professional services, government, think tanks or a related sector
  • An exemplary record of academic and extracurricular achievement
  • Proven superior research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including quantitative skills
  • Proficiency evaluating economic, financial or statistical relationships in databases and analyzing economic time series and cross-sectional data
  • Knowledge of advanced methods in econometrics and statistical modeling is an asset
  • Highly organized and detail-focused, able to synthesize information in a clear and concise way
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills and a team player
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous environment with competing deadlines and rapidly evolving needs and conditions
  • Growth mindset
  • Strong technical proficiency in MS Office applications; specifically PowerPoint, Excel and Word, as well as statistics modelling tools
  • Demonstrated interest in public policy an asset
  • French language skills an asset
