The Deloitte Supply Chain & Manufacturing Operations Consulting practice is the largest in the Canadian market and part of the largest consulting firm in the world and growing.  Our Supply Chain team helps clients transform their value chains into competitive advantages. The Team – Manufacturing Strategy & Operations (MS&O)

Deloitte’s MS&O is one of the high-performing offerings within SC&MO. The MS&O market offering sits at the intersection of the executive boardroom and the factory floor – driving performance improvement by executing business strategy through the Operations function. 

 

Our practitioners work in manufacturing, mining, oil & gas and service operations.  Our practice has a global reach and you might find yourself jumping on a flight to Montreal, Vancouver, Chicago, Atlanta, Santiago, and many other interesting locations.

 

The practice’s service offerings begin with development and definition of manufacturing strategy and run through execution of that strategy across the operations value stream. Specifically, we help our clients transform their manufacturing performance by:

  • Defining the strategic direction and priorities for the manufacturing function, in light of both global business conditions and Enterprise strategy
  • Redesigning manufacturing network footprint to meet strategic priorities at an optimal balance of service level and cost
  • Implementing leading-edge smart factory solutions (including robotics, sensors, additive manufacturing, etc.)
  • Assessing and implementing digital supply chain strategies including robotic process automation, big data, predictive analytics, etc.)
  • Designing operating and governance models for direct and indirect manufacturing support
  • Transforming the value equation for direct materials by optimizing product portfolio, improving sourcing and supplier development
  • Collaborating with the extended supply chain to achieve performance targets
  • Applying Lean principles to achieve operational excellence in the factory and the supply chain
  • Improving plant productivity through increase in asset efficiency, quality and manufacturing reliability
  • Achieving operational synergies through post-merger integration

Work you’ll do

Consulting - Manager

Managers are critical to the success of our practice. You are responsible for the delivery of our client engagements and have the opportunity to work across all industries. You will lead collaborative engagement teams through the development and implementation of Manufacturing strategies and solutions.

 

Managers are expected to contribute to the firm's growth and development in a variety of ways, including:

  • Project Management: Lead engagement project delivery and serve as PM/Work-Stream Leader for large, more complex, client projects.
  • Planning and budgeting; mobilize and manage engagement teams; define deliverable structure and content; facilitate buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client; direct on-time, quality delivery of work products; requirements, work-streams, end to end delivery and oversight of project delivery team members
  • Helping manage engagement economics; manage engagement risk, stakeholder and client management.

Posting Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Business, Engineering, Management, or a related field

A minimum of 6-8 years consulting and/or industry experience is required, with the ability to travel up to 80%. 

Demonstrated experience with Manufacturing Strategy & Operations, in one or more of the following areas:

•           Operations improvement

•           Digital manufacturing technologies

•           Footprint optimization

•           Lean / six sigma

•           Material and inventory cost reduction

•           Additive manufacturing

•           Post-merger operations integration

•           Experience leading or managing teams and change initiatives (especially in a project management role)

•           Experience with budgetary responsibilities related to projects or resources

•           Professional competence in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

•           Superior critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills

•           Exceptional interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills

•           Ability to build consensus and foster change in ambiguous settings

•           Commitment to personal and professional growth

•           Sense of responsibility to self, team, and client

•           Outstanding integrity, initiative, creativity, and passion

•           Record of consistent career progression with increasing levels of responsibility

•           Willingness and ability to travel 80%

•           Must live within commuting distance to one of Deloitte’s consulting offices

 

In addition, successful candidates may also have the following preferred skills:

  • An advanced degree is preferred (e.g. MBA, MS (Engineering / Supply Chain), MS or PhD (Analytics, Statistics, etc.)
  • Understanding of automation ecosphere, partners and technologies
  • Exposure to concepts in the digital supply chain and manufacturing execution systems (MES) space
  • Strong focus in either process or discrete industries
  • Experience working with either DCS/SCADA/PLC platforms.
