Deloitte is looking for a Manager to join the Future of Canada Centre (FCC) and our Economic Advisory group to develop high impact thought leadership on economic issues.

 

The FCC is Deloitte’s thought leadership and public policy hub. The Centre conducts original research and publish reports, articles, and papers under the firm’s flagship initiative, Canada at 175, on a broad spectrum of topics of interest to our firm, our clients, and our country. Deloitte Economic Advisory works closely with our industry leaders across Canada and the globe in order to apply economic thinking and commercial acumen to everyday business problems. As Manager, you will oversee a stream of work for the FCC and Deloitte Economic Advisory to develop and deliver large-scale, cross-sectoral thought leadership focused on growth and competitiveness issues. This could include:

 

  • Leading the development, including writing, of a number of high profile thought leadership pieces;
  • Leading day-to-day economic research activities, providing guidance and mentorship to the research team on quantitative and qualitative research approaches and data sources;
  • Leading the sensing of key issues, public voices, and public policy on issues related to economics, including opportunities to engage policy and political leaders and shape debate;
  • Working closely with FCC and Deloitte Economic Advisory leadership to develop priorities, uncover issues worth pursuing, and tackle new ideas for research;
  • Prioritizing initiatives, develop project plans, and provide ongoing status reports to management;
  • Collaborating with Marketing to support the creation of all internal and external materials related to research findings;
  • Supporting leadership in engaging with client and stakeholders on research insights, including presentation and meetings;
  • Contributing to the development and support the implementation of the FCC’s strategic plans.

 

Qualifications 

  • At minimum a Master’s degree, preferably in economics or another relevant field similar, as well at least 5-6 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated leadership, including experience managing teams and developing people
  • An exemplary record of academic and extracurricular achievement
  • Proven superior research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, especially quantitative skills
  • Highly organized and detail-focused, able to synthesize information in a clear and concise way
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous environment with competing deadlines and rapidly evolving needs and conditions
  • Growth mindset
  • Strong technical proficiency in MS Office applications; specifically PowerPoint, Excel and Word, as well as statistics modelling tools
  • Demonstrated interest in public policy an asset
  • French language skills an asset
