We are seeking a highly analytical and client-focused Senior Consultant to join our team as a Data Scientist / Power Systems Analyst. This role is ideal for a professional who brings a strong combination of power systems expertise, advanced analytics capability, and consulting acumen to solve complex business and technical challenges across the energy and utilities landscape.
What will your typical day look like?
The successful candidate will work at the intersection of data science, electrical/power systems analysis, and digital transformation, supporting clients in areas such as grid modernization, system planning, forecasting, optimization, reliability, decarbonization, and operational performance improvement. This individual will be expected to translate business problems into analytical solutions, develop models and insights, and communicate recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Power Systems Analytics Consulting
• Analyze power distribution and transmission systems and utility data to identify trends, risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization.
• Support client engagements related to grid operations, transmission/distribution planning, load forecasting, grid modernization, DER integration, asset performance, reliability analysis, and energy transition initiatives.
• Apply quantitative and analytical techniques to solve business and operational challenges for power utilities.
• Interpret system performance data and develop actionable recommendations to improve network reliability, efficiency, and decision-making.
Data Science & Modeling
• Build, validate, and deploy advanced analytical models, including machine learning, time series, and statistical models, to address client needs.
• Use machine learning, optimization, simulation, and forecasting techniques to support use cases across energy systems and utility operations.
• Design and develop scalable data pipelines, analytical frameworks, dashboards, and visualization tools to support insight generation.
• Work with large and complex datasets from utilities, including operational systems & sensors, market data, SCADA, AMI, GIS, outage systems, and enterprise platforms.
Client Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement
• Support and lead workstreams within consulting engagements, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely execution.
• Translate technical findings into clear business insights and present recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including data engineers, consultants, power system specialists, and client leadership.
• Facilitate workshops, requirements-gathering sessions, and problem-solving discussions with client teams.
Strategic Advisory & Innovation
• Contribute to the development of innovative solutions that help utilities and energy clients advance digital transformation and data-driven decision-making.
• Stay informed on trends in power systems, utility analytics, AI/ML, energy markets, and grid modernization.
• Support proposal development, thought leadership, and internal capability building related to analytics and power systems consulting.

Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 4–7+ years of relevant experience in power systems analysis, data science, or power grid modernization.
• Strong understanding of power systems fundamentals, including transmission/distribution systems, load behavior, reliability concepts, and grid operations.
• Hands-on experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning, or optimization techniques applied to power grids.
• Exposure to power system analysis tools such as CYME, PSS®E, PSCAD, ETAP, PowerFactory, or similar.
• Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, SQL, or similar.
• Experience working with data from utility systems such as GIS, SCADA, AMI, OMS, EMS, or asset management systems.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences, including business and executive stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving, structured thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
• Professional Engineer designation.
• Experience with utility platforms and datasets such as GIS, SCADA, AMI, OMS, EMS, or asset management systems.
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Knowledge of:
o Load flow analysis and load forecasting
o DER/renewables integration
o Grid planning and reliability
o Asset analytics
o Energy market analytics
o Decarbonization and electrification trends
• Experience in a client-facing consulting environment with responsibility for deliverables, workshops, and executive presentations.
• Experience working with visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data and analytics platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or Databricks.
Total Rewards
The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $102,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
