If you are looking for an exciting and challenging role dealing with diverse issues relating to litigation and regulatory matters in a professional services environment, Deloitte’s Office of the General Counsel is looking for talent like you!

What will your typical day look like?


As the Law Clerk, Disputes and Regulatory you will work directly with other members of the legal team to provide legal support to the business. You will help organize and manage documents, develop responses to regulatory inquiries, prepare reports, conduct research and manage access to information requests. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
 

  • Organizing and managing documents for production for complex litigation and regulatory matters
  •  Supporting Legal Counsel to develop responses to regulatory inquiries and investigations, including information requests from regulators
  • Providing support on the firm's annual regulatory filings and reporting obligations to various domestic and international regulators
  • Helping to mitigate litigation risk by managing legal holds, including analyzing legal conflict checks on new opportunities 
  • Assisting with the firm's insurance claims notification, reporting and cost recovery process for litigation and risk matters  
  • Managing reporting of financial assessments, litigation costs and accruals to Finance
  • Helping to develop responses to insider trading requests from securities regulators
  • Responding to access to information requests from government agencies
  • Organizing and maintaining legal documents and electronic files 
  • Conducting legal research and analysis on case law, statutes and regulations
     

About the team


The Office of the General Counsel is a national, high performing group of professionals providing legal advice to the Deloitte Canada firm and our business leaders. The OGC consists of approximately 45 people including lawyers, paralegals, law clerks and paraprofessionals. They advise on corporate, commercial, regulatory, risk, employment, and litigation matters. Our work is rewarding, and we see the impact of the services we provide to our clients.

You are someone who has/is:
 

  • 5+ years’ experience as a law clerk; 
  • A broad understanding of the law;
  • Detail oriented, highly organized and has strong time management skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner (proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications);
  • Able to work independently and as a team contributor;
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and tight deadlines; 
  • Able to build relationships across the Deloitte network and externally; and
  • In-house legal experience is an asset.
     

Total Rewards


The salary range for this position is $69,000 - $114,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
