About the team
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Manager to join the Payroll Managed Services team within the Deloitte Canada Payroll as a Service offering. The Manager will play a key role in reviewing payroll and delivering exceptional service to our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll managed services, with extensive hands-on experience using the Dayforce platform and the ability to quickly adapt to other leading payroll solutions to meet clients’ requirements.
What will your typical day look like?
Payroll Review and Oversight
- Review payroll processed by the preparation team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with client policies and established process flows.
- Leverage deep expertise in Dayforce to identify and resolve discrepancies, optimize payroll processes, and uphold high standards of quality.
- Oversee payroll transactions across multiple platforms (such as Workday, SAP, Oracle, ADP, QuickBooks), ensuring all outputs meet client requirements and compliance standards.
- Provide occasional support to the payroll preparation team as needed, including during vacation, sick leave, or peak periods
Compliance and Controls
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor laws to ensure all payroll activities are compliant.
- Enforce robust controls and procedures to safeguard the integrity of payroll data.
- Collaborate with the payroll advisory team to conduct regular internal audits of client files, identify potential compliance issues, and recommend or implement corrective actions.
Client Service and Support
- Serve as a point of escalation for payroll-related inquiries and issues, providing expert guidance and resolution working with the payroll advisory team.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their payroll needs, ensuring solutions provided by the team are tailored and compliant.
- Review payroll reports prepared for client stakeholders to ensure completeness and accuracy before delivery.
- Collaborate with and support the implementation team to ensure compliant and successful Dayforce implementations of our clients’ payroll.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
Qualifications:
- National Payroll Institute, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in payroll processing and/or payroll review within a managed services environment, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality payroll services to multiple clients.
- Demonstrated expertise in Dayforce payroll software, with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to optimize Dayforce for client-specific needs.
- Ability and willingness to adapt quickly to other payroll platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle, ADP, QuickBooks) as client requirements change.
- Good understanding of payroll compliance requirements, tax regulations, and labor laws.
- Experience with Canadian payroll activities is essential; international payroll experience is an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., MS Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and team members.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in French is an asset.
Preferred Skills:
- Demonstrated adaptability to changing priorities and a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with payroll activities such as onboarding, terminations, leave management, and benefits reporting.
- Familiarity with a variety of payroll solutions, with a focus on Dayforce and the ability to cross-train on additional platforms such as Oracle,
- Workday, SAP, ADP, and QuickBooks.

Total Rewards
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $150,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
