What will your typical day look like?
As an Analyst, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering P&C work on a wide range of consulting projects within actuarial reserving, pricing, underwriting / claims and advanced analytics domains. Examples include:
- Assisting in the execution of actuarial reserving work for P&C insurance clients, including data extraction, validation, and analysis to assess the adequacy of reserves
- Contributing to appointed actuary assignments by preparing actuarial reports, supporting documentation, and exhibits in compliance with regulatory requirements and professional standards
- Participating in peer review and audit processes by analyzing actuarial assumptions, methodologies, and results, and providing detailed feedback to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Developing actuarial pricing models for P&C insurance products using statistical and actuarial techniques, as well as actuarial software and tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python)
- Executing pricing digital transformation and process automation projects
- Analyzing large datasets to support pricing and reserving analyses and identify key trends impacting insurance portfolios
- Contributing to the development and validation of pricing and reserving methodologies under the guidance of senior actuaries
- Supporting national leaders with new business and sales initiatives, including new business proposals
- Staying abreast of technical P&C industry developments like MCT, FCT, ORSA, IFRS 17, etc. as well as delivering proposals and engagements in fields such as actuarial valuation services, Pricing and reserving transformation, Advanced Analytics, and the usage of AI to enhance the way actuaries work
- Contributing to the development and refinement of Deloitte’s P&C market offerings by introducing innovative approaches, supporting thought leadership, and developing proofs-of-concept
- Preparing and delivering clear, concise, and impactful reports, presentations, and data visualizations for both internal and external stakeholders
About the team
Our Canadian Actuarial practice is over 70 strong and has tripled in size over 5 years. We are part of Deloitte’s worldwide actuarial network, which includes over 1000 actuarial professionals working in 43 countries. AIS is part of Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance (A&A) practice and provides a wide range of consulting services within life, pension and property & casualty. Enough about us, let’s talk about you
You are someone with:
- A Masters / Bachelor’s degree in the fields Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or Data Science
- From 1-2 years of relevant actuarial P&C working experience within actuarial reserving and /or pricing, capital modelling, analytics
- A mindset of both a consultant and an actuary, the successful candidate must have outstanding communication skills and a nature to pursue challenges and solve problems
- Aptitude to synthesize quantitative analysis and effectively relay this information to others
- Demonstrated capabilities in teamwork, leadership, strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build rapport within the practice and deliver high-quality work under time constraints
- Shows a keen interest in the insurance and P&C industry and exhibits passion in driving innovation in the actuarial field
- A strong entrepreneurial spirit who takes initiative in finding new work within the actuarial team
- Programming skills (R, Python, etc.) and data visualization tools like Tableau
- Ability to manage time and competing priorities
- A drive to go above and beyond to deliver excellence for our clients
- Ability to work in French and English.
Total Rewards
The salary range for this position is $56,000 - $90,000 . Individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
