What will your typical day look like?
As a Functional Business Analyst (BA)/Consultant within the Engineering team at Deloitte, you will support clients in leveraging technology to drive business transformation and operational excellence. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for technology and business processes, who is eager to bridge the gap between functional requirements and technical solutions.
As a Business Technology Analyst or Consultant, you will work closely with stakeholders, developers, testers, and product owners to understand business needs, translate them into functional specifications, and support the delivery of innovative technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Functional:
• Support requirements gathering including the creation, documentation, and refinement of user stories and contribute to the development and maintenance of the product design.
• Apply analytical techniques to gather and interpret data, identify issues, and develop preliminary recommendations for client challenges.
• Collaborate with project teams, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
• Support communication with stakeholders by preparing project updates, and documenting risks and issues.
• Prepare and deliver project updates, communicate risks and issues, and escalate concerns to senior team members as needed.
• Actively participate in client meetings and workshops, supporting discussion facilitation, and solution ideation
• Contribute to the creation of functional specifications and design documents, translating business needs into actionable technical requirements.
• Set up and manage JIRA dashboards to track project progress, manage user stories and tasks, and provide actionable insights to the project team and stakeholders.
General:
• Participate in client workshops, meetings, and knowledge-sharing sessions and collaborate with technical and business units to gather, analyze, and document functional requirements.
• Translate business needs into clear and actionable user stories or functional specifications.
• Assist in analyzing current systems and workflows to identify improvement opportunities.
• Support Agile development teams during sprint planning, backlog refinement, and testing phases.
• Create and maintain documentation including presentations, user stories, process flows, use cases, and functional designs.
• Develop foundational knowledge in relevant industry sectors or functional areas and assist in solution development through research and analysis.
• Provide support in defect analysis and troubleshooting during various testing phases (Functional, SIT, UAT, Performance, Accessibility etc.), while identifying areas for improvement.
• Stay informed about industry trends in technology, AI/Agentic and Cloud computing.
AI Enablement:
• Require proficiency in AI and machine learning tools for data analysis, pattern recognition, and deriving actionable insights to optimize business operations.
• Expect skills in using AI solutions that automate repetitive tasks, increasing efficiency and allowing focus on strategic activities.
• Familiar with NLP technologies to improve client interaction, and to automate requirement gathering and analysis.
• Implement AI-driven intelligent process automation to streamline routine tasks, such as setting up JIRA dashboards generating reports, etc.
• Knowledgeable in AI tools to support optimization of project management and functional processes, as well as testing phases by automating test case generation, executing tests, and analyzing results.
• Demonstrate understanding of ethical AI practices, emphasizing transparency, and accountability in AI usage.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
• Demonstrates a proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, Jira, Confluence).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
• Prior internship, academic, or project experience in a software development environment is a plus.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Exposure to business process modeling tools (e.g., BPMN, Visio).
• Certification in business analysis (e.g., ECBA, CBAP).
• Demonstrated leadership or teamwork experience through campus involvement or extracurricular activities.

Total Rewards
The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $90,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
