What will your typical day look like?

As a Consultant Business Analyst supporting modernization projects, you will play an important role in the delivery of Government of Canada transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and works effectively with cross-functional teams to support discovery, design, and delivery activities. Working closely with Product Owners, SMEs, architects, developers, QA/UAT teams, and project leadership, you will help ensure project outcomes align with business needs, operational requirements, and delivery priorities.
You will support a range of business analysis activities, including requirements gathering, process documentation, gap analysis, user story development, backlog refinement, stakeholder engagement, testing support, and development and maintenance of key business artifacts. Success in this role requires an active discovery mindset, strong (verbal and written) communication skills, and the ability to translate complex stakeholder input into clear, actionable, and traceable deliverables.

You will:

  • Lead and support discovery activities, workshops, interviews, and working sessions to understand business processes, operational needs, pain points, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Gather, analyze, validate, and document business requirements, process flows, business scenarios, BPMNs, assumptions, decisions, and other project artifacts using established standards and templates.
  • Conduct gap analyses and impact assessments to identify business needs, contemplated changes, risks, dependencies, and future-state opportunities.
  • Support the development of future-state processes, business scenarios, wireframes, and other functional design artifacts.
  • Translate business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog items, and delivery-ready requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and project teams to support backlog refinement, prioritization, sprint planning, reviews, and other Agile delivery activities.
  • Provide ongoing business and requirements clarification to development, QA, UAT, and stakeholder teams while supporting testing, validation, demonstrations, and model office activities.
  • Maintain business artifacts and contribute to continuous improvement of business analysis practices, documentation standards, governance materials, and project reporting.

About the team

Our team supports Government of Canada transformation initiatives focused on modernizing business processes, improving digital services, and enabling more efficient operations. Working across business, technology, integration, data, testing, and governance workstreams, the team helps move initiatives from discovery through design and delivery while collaborating closely with client SMEs, Product Owners, technical specialists, and vendor partners. Our work spans discovery, current-state documentation, future-state design, backlog preparation, development, delivery and operational support activities.
The team values active discovery, strong analytical thinking, traceability, practical problem solving, and clear communication. We are looking for individuals who are collaborative, adaptable, comfortable working with ambiguity, and motivated to help public-sector clients achieve meaningful modernization outcomes.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone with:

  • 2–3 years of experience in a Business Analysis or similar functional delivery role.
  • Experience supporting requirements gathering, stakeholder workshops, process documentation, user story development, or other Agile delivery activities.
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured, and review-ready documentation.
  • Experience documenting business requirements, business processes, user scenarios, acceptance criteria, and/or functional specifications.
  • Experience writing user stories and supporting backlog refinement in an Agile delivery environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify gaps, dependencies, assumptions, risks, and impacts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Product Owners, SMEs, architects, UX resources, developers, QA/UAT teams, and project leadership.
  • Comfort working in a structured project environment with formal templates, governance expectations, documentation standards, and review cycles.
  • A positive attitude, strong attention to detail, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain Government of Canada security clearance.

Positions based in Quebec: Bilingualism in French and English is required for this position due to the nature of the role having interactions with National & Global clients and project teams.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with Government of Canada or public-sector clients.
  • Experience with SaaS, CRM, workflow, client-facing digital platforms, or digital service modernization projects.
  • Exposure to Salesforce Service Cloud or similar service management / case management platforms.
