What will your typical day look like?

A typical day will include meetings with colleagues and clients to scope, frame, execute and deliver reports, insights, advice and impact. This will include research, analysis, report creation, presentations, and delivery. We work with a variety of clients in a range of size and industries including private companies, publicly traded companies, governments, crown corporations, and investors.  We also work closely with our colleagues across Deloitte to create teams on the fly to ensure we have the optimal mix of expertise and experience to deliver a client experience that is exceptional!

As a Senior Consultant you will:
 
•    Work collaboratively as part of a local and national team of talented advisors
•    Cultivate and maintain valued relationships with clients and key contacts
•    Lead team members in executing on and preparing client deliverables 
•    Analyze financial data, review accounting and various records
•    Identify issues, define symptoms and recommend solutions
•    Employ a structured approach to project management to ensure complete client satisfaction and project profitability
•    Prioritize objectives and conduct project planning, engagement oversight, and reporting
•    Develop your expertise in a specialization and your reputation as a business advisor
•    Contribute to practice growth and development
•    Participate in the development and delivery of training programs
•    Coach and mentor select junior practitioners to their highest potential and act as a role model
 

About the team

Deloitte’s Value Advisory team specializes in solving complex business and transaction issues, including analyzing valuation alternatives and recommending solutions. We understand how to quantify and present valuation analyses and conclusions in concert with prevailing accounting, tax, and regulatory codes for transaction, financing, litigation, strategic management, and compliance purposes. Our main areas of focus are:
 
•             Business valuations;
•             Damage quantification;
•             Valuations related to financial statements;
•             Mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures;
•             Strategic and financial consulting; and
•             Financial modeling.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone who has:

•             A degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred), Industrial Engineering or Metallurgy
•             Approximately 6 years plus working experience in a mining/metals processing-focused role either within management consulting or industry. This should include at least 3 years onsite mine/metals processing experience across a range of mining/metals processing disciplines or at least 3 years in a client facing/consulting/advisory role. Ideally
(i)    in an advisory position in the mining/metals processing (including EPCM) sector; or 
(ii)    in a technical position in the mining/metals processing sector facing/consulting/advisory role 
Ideally this should include at least 5 years onsite mine/metals processing experience across a range of mining/metals processing discipline or at least 5 years in a client facing/consulting/advisory role •             A sound understanding of mineral processing, including metallurgical testwork, mass balances, metal accounting and processing methods used for the major metals
•             A reasonably good understanding of all of the mining value chain, including geology, mineral resources, mining, mineral reserves, legislation, sustainability and technical reporting (NI43-101 and S-K1300)
•             The ability to determine how the mining value chain aspects affect the value and valuation of mining projects
•             Capabilities and experience in a diverse range of advisory / consulting offerings would be advantageous including:
    Reporting of mineral asset valuations in accordance with international codes
    Due Diligence
    Phase studies
    Technical reporting in accordance with international codes 
 
You are someone who can:
•             Assist in delivering techno-economic advice to a wide range of mining clients
•             Perform accurate and clearly presented financial and technical analysis and market research;
•             Contribute to operational improvement projects for mining clients
•             Assist in technical due diligence processes and associated engagement
•             Assist with reviewing metallurgical testwork, process plant designs and the reasonability of forecast plant performance data. This work will be for the purposes such as (list not exhaustive) due diligence for transactions, valuations and audit support work
•             Assist in performing mass balances and performing metal accounting related work
•             Gain a deep understanding of mining value chain
•             Actively pursue self-learning, on the job training and knowledge from other team members
•              Contribute to broader Deloitte and DTMA initiatives and build internal networks
•             Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognized for their contribution.
