We are seeking a qualified Manager to join our growing team of established corporate entrepreneurs and technologists in our Digital Customer service line, specifically to grow our Front-End Engineering offering. 

The Front-End Engineering team is part of Deloitte’s Technology group and will serve clients across Canada. We build innovative large-scale technical solutions for our clients in industries like Banking, Healthcare and Insurance. The team will consist of software architects, full stack developers, front-end designers and subject matter experts. We are a set of hands-on developers who are passionate about building modern digital experiences.

As a Manager you will be principally responsible for business development and project delivery. Managers are also expected to possess skill expertise such that they are viewed both internally and externally as “subject matter experts.” Additionally, Managers also play an internal role in firm management, supporting practice-building initiatives and actively contributing to the practice’s distinct culture as organizational role models.

To qualify for this position, you have:

  • 5-7 years of experience producing web / mobile / enterprise solutions in a professional software development environment, with progressively growing levels of responsibility
  • Experience in agile development environments
  • You are a team player who enjoys working with others to solve problems, share knowledge and can help growing and mentoring junior developers
  • A passion to lead young professionals in an agile-scrum environment.
  • You balance logical problem solving with innovative thinking
  • Confidence to solve problems that may not be well defined from the beginning, leading a team through the discovery process.
  • A degree in any field, and significant hands-on development experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills (English and French)
  • An open mind and a desire to learn from client or stakeholder feedback.
  • Experience in business development
  • Experience advising clients operating in multiple industries
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Be comfortable with travelling up to 50-75% of your time

  • You write native ES6 Javascript, HTML 5 and CSS. You can tell us all about the strengths and weaknesses of React, Vue, Angular, Bootstrap, Knockout, Pug and Handlebars. In short, front-end is your expertise.
  • You have experience translating designs and wireframes into high quality, responsive websites with performance and accessibility in mind.
  • You love optimizing components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers (browser testing and accessibility testing).
  • You have worked with bundlers such as Webpack, Parcel, Gulp and Browserify. The Command Line Interface (CLI) is your best friend.
  • You love git and have lots of experience with Bitbucket, GitHub and how they integrate with Jira. SVN experience is always welcomed.
  • You can build reusable and maintainable components (e.g Angular, React) and front-end UI libraries for rapid development.
  • You are familiar with RESTful APIs and have knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Tokens.
  • You have used a TDD approach for unit tests and know what the best tools are for the task.
  • You are a specialist in your field of expertise with hybrid interests in all technology beyond that, such as back-end development (e.g. Rails, Python, Java, NodeJS), design (e.g. UX expertise, Photoshop, Sketch), cloud technologies (Amazon AWS, Firebase, Azure), microservices, iOS development, Android, etc.
