At Deloitte, our ESG Reporting Advisory Team combines its deep technical expertise in corporate reporting with clients’ sustainability reporting needs. The ESG Reporting Advisory team provides advisory and assurance services for clients throughout their ESG reporting journey. This includes supporting our clients navigating the impact of ESG factors on their financial and regulatory reporting, creating and disseminating strategic stakeholder communications related to ESG, and delivering assurance around ESG measures and disclosures. Our team works with clients to ensure that ESG is embedded at the core of an organization’s purpose and takes a holistic approach centered on integrated thinking.  


Our team includes specialists who bring industry-specific sustainability perspectives with a focus on complex accounting, assurance, regulatory requirements, investor relations and overall communications in corporate reporting.  
 

What will your typical day look like?

 

As a Manager, you will:  

  • Lead the delivery of projects for clients with a focus on:  
    • Complex technical accounting and analysis of GAAP impacts related to ESG impacts 
    • Performing research, stakeholder engagement, and analysis as part of ESG risk and opportunity analyses 
    • Performing sustainability-related assurance procedures such as evaluating and testing ESG data and processes, and related controls 
    • Assistance in developing appropriate disclosures in accordance with leading ESG reporting standards & frameworks.  
    • Preparing and delivering training on ESG reporting developments and their implications 
    • Qualitative and quantitative research 
  • Deliver multiple project tasks or components, including completing proposals 
  • Work alongside others on climate change and sustainability matters & industries to provide expert insight on the impact and interactions of climate change on other sustainability areas 
  • Act in the capacity of ‘engagement manager’, taking ownership for all aspects of engagement delivery from scoping and team selection through to delivery, risk and quality management, and budgetary control 
  • Utilize subject matter knowledge to lead new business development opportunities and grow Deloitte’s ESG proposition  
  • Providing leadership and mentoring to junior team members

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

As a Manager, you must have: 

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or business, or undergraduate degree in sustainability management, climate policy, public policy or a related-environmental, social or engineering disciplines. 
  • CPA, CA designation or equivalency and:  
    • possess a minimum 5 years of relevant work experience with public companies; OR 
    • possess minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with ESG-related standards and frameworks including ISSB, GRI, SASB and TCFD. 
  • Strong audit or advisory technical skills, and solid knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP accounting standards 
  • Capacity to think critically about issues from a strategic perspective (options available, pros / cons of different options, proposed solution) and aptitude in researching accounting standards and related interpretive guidance 
  • Effective consensus building, conflict resolution, and team-building skills, including being a role model for others and imparting knowledge and experience to junior team members 
  • Experienced with project problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, facilitation of decision making, documentation, managing client expectations and team leadership 
  • Strong management and communication skills (both written and verbal) 
  • Understanding of green and social bonds, relevant principles, market challenges and insights, and overall process is preferred 

 

Due to the nature of the role having interactions with National & Global clients, bilingualism in French and English is required for this position
