We are looking for a highly motivated and confident individual with a passion for writing and editing in both English and French, to create compelling, easy-to-digest content for written proposals and video/presentation scripts.
What will your typical day look like?
In your role as a Proposal Writer, you will be involved in all phases of a pursuit, starting with strategy development and writing guidance, and continuing through to the creation of engaging, compliant and high-scoring sales materials, including proposals and client presentations. Working with collaborative teams of subject matter experts and other Value and Sales Excellence (VSE) professionals, you will play a key role in preparing and tailoring clear and concise material that responds to the unique needs of our clients and resonates with the relevant audiences. Success in this role requires a proactive and highly organized approach, along with outstanding written and verbal communication skills in French and English—complemented by a creative storytelling flair!
*This position is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role based on performance and business needs.
About the team
The Value and Sales Excellence team is of a group of specialized professionals dedicated to driving the firm’s most strategic opportunities. We lead the firm on sales governance, sales support, and sales innovation, and work with public and private sector teams from all Deloitte businesses across Canada.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
Bilingualism in French and English is required for this position due to the nature of the role having interactions with National & Global clients and project teams.
You are someone with these required skills, experience & qualifications:
• A relevant Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism, literature, or similar
• A minimum of 6 years of experience preparing and tailoring content for clients
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English, including a keen eye for detail
• An empathetic approach, with the ability to put yourself in the clients’ shoes
• Ability to work with practitioners from varying backgrounds, communicate to executive leadership, lead teams in strategic discussions, and influence others
• Exceptional follow-up skills, with the ability to read a situation and adapt your style to achieve results—both in person and remotely
• Experience interpreting and analyzing complex RFX documents (including Requests for Proposals, Requests for Information, and Requests for Qualifications) and structuring and editing content to respond to client requirements
• Ability to collate and synthesize large amounts of information into a persuasive story
• Strong document management skills in MS Word and PowerPoint, including the ability to collaborate creatively and coordinate with others to produce appealing and compelling sales materials
• Curiosity about, and comfort using and creating GenAI prompts and workflows in pursuits to support and execute common writing and review tasks
• Ability to apply judgment to AI outputs by reviewing, questioning and refining AI-generated content using pursuit and proposal expertise; flagging gaps and risks; and ensuring outputs meet sales excellence and firm standards for quality, clarity and confidentiality
• Experience drafting presentation and video scripts that successfully transform complex information into engaging, audience-appropriate narratives
• Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
It would be great for you to have some of these nice to haves as well:
• Experience writing proposals to address the unique needs of Canadian public sector entities, including the Government of Canada
Total Rewards
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $156,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
