Summary

As a Portfolio Management Advisor – IT on a one-year fixed term contract, you will play a critical role in aligning project portfolios with organizational strategy, optimizing project delivery, and supporting informed decision-making. During your tenure, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful portfolio management and drive continuous improvement.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Develop and articulate a clear vision for the project portfolio, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives and priorities.
  • Prioritize projects based on their added value, strategic impact, and feasibility.
  • Participate in the analysis and evaluation of potential risks, costs, and benefits for proposed projects to support informed decision-making aligned with portfolio objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of recommendations regarding the inclusion or exclusion of projects in the portfolio based on defined criteria.
  • Identify and address dependency issues (e.g., resource allocation, prerequisites) to ensure optimal portfolio management.
  • Analyze and integrate requests for project changes or adjustments in line with portfolio priorities.
  • Facilitate effective communication between stakeholders (project managers, management teams, clients, etc.) to ensure transparency and alignment on portfolio progress.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes to optimize portfolio management and increase operational efficiency.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for projects and programs to assess progress and effectiveness.
  • Identify deviations from objectives, budgets, and deadlines, and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports and presentations on portfolio status to management and stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
  • Gather and incorporate feedback on projects and programs to enhance portfolio management processes.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required within the scope of the role.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone with: 

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the IT field.
  • Proven experience as a project manager on at least two large-scale IT projects (minimum 2,000 person-days each) within the last 6 years.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a project or portfolio management advisor.
  • Demonstrated experience as a strategic advisor on at least two mandates involving recommendations and implementation of project management strategies.
  • Practical experience with the Atlassian Jira Software Suite.

 

Preferred Assets:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education (equivalency accepted according to government standards).
  • Hands-on experience with Miro.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience in change management and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Note: Bilingualism in French and English is required for this position due to the nature of the role having interactions with National & Global clients and project teams.

Total Rewards


The salary range for this position is $84,000 - $175,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
