What will your typical day look like?

As an Internal Auditor within Deloitte’s Government & Public Services (GPS) practice, you will execute internal audit projects for a diverse range of Alberta public sector organizations, including ministries, agencies, boards, and commissions. Your focus will be on identifying key risks and evaluating the effectiveness of governance structures, internal controls, and business processes in a public sector context. This will include using established tools and methodologies to develop risk-based audit plans, collect and analyze data, working with subject matter experts, documenting results and report writing. Internal audits are conducted in a wide range of organizations and include advisory work and other assessments. They will require you to use skill sets such as: conducting client interviews; assessing business processes; co-facilitating workshops; synthesizing and communicating complex ideas; developing value-added recommendations; assisting with risk mitigation strategies; and, using your business savviness and verbal skills to build trust and creditability with your client base.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone who has
•    1 to 3 years of experience in an internal audit function or professional service firm
•    Experience including Operational Audits, Internal audit planning and risk assessment, internal controls, and IT Controls
•    Strong knowledge of business operations and key processes will be considered a key asset
•    Preference given to candidates who are pursuing or hold an accounting or internal audit designation (CPA or CIA)
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong business acumen, and executive presence
•    Analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills  
•    Experience with project problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, facilitation of decision making, and documentation 
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
•    Experience with data analytics and data visualization (considered an asset)
