The Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Advisory group is seeking a Manager, M&A Analytics. This role is critical with respect to providing analytics driven M&A transaction support to our clients. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the predictive analytics capabilities of Deloitte’s M&A teams in the Canadian market. The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly driven self-starter with the ability to lead by example and bridge the gap between statistical and financial analysis expertise.

As a Manager, M&A Analytics you will be required to:

• Collaborate extensively with the broader M&A practice across Canada to build relationships & expand the national presence of the practice;
• Utilize your existing knowledge of analytic/statistical methods and tools to lead the ideation, execution and delivery of M&A analytics solutions - , challenge the status-quo for current methods, and drive progression within the business;
• Lead teams and manage both internal and external stakeholders throughout engagements to ensure smooth and effective delivery of solutions within transaction timelines;
• Perform “hands on” statistical modelling, computations, and data ETL to deliver best-of-breed analytical solutions for clients’ M&A business problems;
• Develop static & interactive data visualizations of historical/forecasted financial trends, business performance drivers, quality of earnings, working capital, cash flow, etc. to communicate business insights to clients;
• Train the team on the latest techniques in statistical analysis and work towards increasing the adoption of statistical solutions among non-technical business partners & clients.


External Posting Qualifications


• Completed undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Business, Statistics, Computer Science or Engineering with outstanding academic credentials. Strong preference given to those with Post Graduate credentials in above or similar fields with strong grounding in statistical theory;
• Strong financial and business acumen (MBA / CPA / CFA) an asset;
• 5 - 8 years of practical experience delivering statistical solutions (preferred focus on Finance / Commerce), and experience leading teams on data science / data visualization projects;
• Project management and people management experience is required;
• Corporate Finance and / or M&A experience considered an asset;
• Professional services, consulting, or advisory experience is preferred;
• Strong proficiency with at least one or more languages for data analysis: Python, R, SPSS Modeller, SAS, Angoss Knowledge Studio, RapidMiner, or similar tools is required;
• Fluency in database and programming languages for data manipulation and integration using (one or more of) SQL, Oracle, Hadoop, NoSQL Databases, or similar tools is required;
• Strong experience with statistical modeling techniques, data mining, and predictive models is required;
• Strong experience working with large amounts of data with significant ambiguity, developing creative approaches to analytical problems, and interpreting data and results from a business/industry perspective;
• Understanding of BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and how to efficiently structure data and analysis for reporting purposes , experience using Tableau for reporting is an asset;
• Strong knowledge of data manipulation tools such as SQL, PowerQuery, R, SAS , - or Alteryx an asset;
• Ability to cleanse, transform & manipulate client data to facilitate analysis / visualization;
• Ability to manage, analyze and present findings from large volumes of data;
• Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions to complex business questions, and communicate this to non-experts or executives;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams;
• Strong oral and written communication skills is required.
