What will your typical day look like?

 

Join the Deloitte Technical Mining Advisory (DTMA) team to deliver services on delegated engagements and projects. The role focuses on using technical mining experience and knowledge as well as analytical skills as part of cross functional teams delivering work with mining sector clients. You will work with high-performing teams to make an impact that matters and deliver exceptional client service.


Roles and responsibilities:

  • Deliver techno-economic analysis and advice to a wide range of mining clients;
  • Perform accurate and clearly presented financial and technical analysis and market research;
  • Contribute to operational improvement projects for mining clients;
  • Perform technical due diligence processes  including life of mine plans, financial forecasts, and mineral asset valuations;
  • Review metallurgical testwork, process plant designs and the reasonability of forecast plant performance data. This work will be for the purposes such as (list not exhaustive) due diligence for transactions, valuations, and financial audits ;
  • Perform mass balances and metal accounting procedures;
  • Execute project deliverables through effective project and time management and clear communication.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the mining value chain; 
  • Actively pursue self-learning, on the job training, and knowledge from other team members;
  • Support proposal preparation through scope development and technical content to reflect the client’s needs.
  • Contribute to broader Deloitte and DTMA initiatives and build internal network; and
  • Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.

About the team

 

Deloitte Technical Mining Advisory is a collaborative, multidisciplinary team within the Resource Evaluation and Advisory practice that creates value for mining clients through integrated technical mining and techno economic analysis. We provide specialist expertise across the mining value chain, supporting clients and internal Deloitte teams on complex mining projects and transactions. Our team is committed to technical excellence, practical advice, and a culture that values collaboration, professional development, and delivering exceptional client service.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

 

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mining engineering, processing engineering, or metallurgy.
  • Professional registration with a recognized engineering or professional body in Canada or an equivalent international body, such as ECSA, AusIMM or SAIMM, that enables the individual to act as a Qualified Person and or Qualified Valuator. 
  • 4 to 6 years’ experience working either

(i) in an advisory position in the mining sector; or 

(ii) in a technical position in the mining / mineral exploration sector. 

  • A sound understanding of mineral processing, including metallurgical testwork, mass balances, metal accounting, and processing methods used for the major metals. 
  • A working understanding of financial modelling as applied to mineral projects at all stages of development. 
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Strong data analysis and technical writing skills. 
  • A good understanding of the mining value chain, including, but not limited to: 

o    Geology;

o    Mineral Resources;

o    Mining and Mineral Reserves;

o    Legislation;

o    Sustainability; and

o    Technical reporting (NI43-101 and S-K1300).

  • Ability to determine how the mining value chain aspects affect the value and valuation of mining projects. 
  • Capabilities and experience in a diverse range of advisory / consulting offerings would be advantageous including: 

o    Mineral asset valuations in accordance with international codes; 

o    Due Diligence; 

o    Phase studies;

o    Technical reporting in accordance with international codes. 

Total Rewards


The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $108,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
